This is not the first time I have been left speechless by a Clock Opera video. As well as being a great track, the video has a great story, great acting, great production, and also works so well with the music. But me gushing about it won’t convince you, so I guess you’ll just have to watch it…

Leeds duo Joseph & David are fixing to release their second EP, Rise Up The Sun and have released this track Falling Wood as a preview. Get to the EP launch party at Holy Trinity Church, Leeds on 19th December if you can. They are well worth seeing live.

MuteMath – Odd Soul / Blood Pressure [Videos]

New Orleans band MuteMath consistently make good music and good music videos. Despite a recent change in their lineup and a consequent alteration to their sound (now a bit more blues-rock than before, I feel), their navigation along this vein of goodness seems to be unwavering.

These two videos are for tracks from the upcoming album Odd Soul, which is due for release on 4th October.

kidkanevil – Tokyorkshire Research Inc.

Good gosh. This new kidkanevil tape is off the hook.

The project is a tribute to Raymond Scott, an American composer who came up through jazz but also experimented with electronic instruments, somewhat ahead of his time. You may be familiar with some of his music because it was adapted and used in numerous Looney Tunes cartoons.

kidkanevil has honoured Scott’s work by sampling it and wreaking his own magical havoc on it in the process. As always, some incredible beats are part of the result.

As I write, Leeds is massively representing on the home page of vimeo.com, in the shape of a music video by Pengilly’s (Leeds band) and Brown Bread Films (Leeds film production company).

I saw this guy play to a packed silent room in north Leeds last year, and remember thinking that as far as venues went, it was the perfect one to hear his quiet acoustic songs.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich hails from York and has just released his debut album Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm on Dirty Hit. Check the video for Box Of Stones, with a definite folky feel.
